Rule 51 Exceptions Unnecessary

When you disagree with something that happens in court, you just need to speak up and let the judge make a ruling. You do not need to do anything extra after that to protect your right to bring it up later on appeal.

In older court systems, lawyers had to formally "take exception" to a judge's ruling to preserve their right to challenge it later. Ohio no longer requires this step. Once you raise an objection or file a motion and the judge responds, you have done enough to keep that issue alive for appeal.
