§ 137.154 Level II obligations in local court judgments

When a local court (like a municipal or county court) hands down a criminal judgment, it can include what's called a "Level II obligation." This basically means fines and other money the person owes to the state, a city, or a county because of their case.

Before any of this money goes toward those fines, the court first sets aside the amount required under a separate law, ORS 153.633 (2). Once that amount is covered, whatever money is left counts as the Level II obligation.

In simple terms, this rule explains the order in which money gets applied when someone owes fines from a local court case. It makes sure a specific required payment happens first, and then the rest goes toward the other fines owed to the government.
