Rule 765 Return of Writ

When a court issues a writ of partition (a legal order to divide property), the person who carries out the division has 20 days to complete the work and return the paperwork to the court. This 20-day clock starts from the day the last commissioner involved in the case receives their copy of the writ. A judge can change this deadline if needed.

The officer who delivers the writ must write on it exactly when and how it was delivered. This creates a record so everyone knows when the 20-day period began.
