Rule 787 Landlord May Become Defendant

If someone files a case to remove a tenant from a property, the landlord has the right to step into the case as the defendant. The landlord can do this on their own, or the tenant can ask the court to bring the landlord in.

Once the landlord joins the case, they can use any legal defense they want, just as if the lawsuit had been filed against them from the start. This gives the landlord a full and fair chance to fight the case in court.
