Rule 788 May File Plea of "not Guilty" Only

If you are the defendant in this type of case, you can only file one type of response: a "not guilty" plea. In that plea, you simply say that you did not cause the harm the plaintiff says you caused.

There is one exception. If you made improvements to the property at the center of the dispute, you can include that information in your plea. You would need to explain the facts about those improvements so the court can consider giving you credit for them.
