Rule 15-5 Review of Request to Seal

If a judge orders documents to be filed under seal, either side can challenge that decision before the case is fully over. They do this by filing what is called an interlocutory application, which is a request to have an appeals court look at the sealing order right away rather than waiting until the end of the case.

The appeals court that reviews this request must be the one that has the legal authority to handle appeals from that type of case. Not every appeals court can review every type of case, so the right court must be chosen when making this request.
