§ 24-8-822 [Whole Admission Must Be Introduced]

If one side in a case uses a statement made by the other side as evidence, they can only use part of it. But the other side has the right to make sure the full statement gets shown to the court.

This protects people from having their words taken out of context. For example, if someone made a statement that starts with "Yes, I was there, but..." the other side cannot just use the "Yes, I was there" part while hiding the rest.
