Rule 43 Mandatory Continuing Judicial Education (mcje)

Judges in Georgia's Superior Courts must complete ongoing education and training to keep their skills current. This is not optional. Every judge is required to meet set training hours each year.

The Georgia Institute of Continuing Judicial Education handles this training. Judges must complete at least 30 hours of approved education every two years. New judges have their own requirements when they first take the bench.

For people involved in court cases, this rule exists to make sure the judge handling their case is trained and up to date on the law. A judge who falls behind on required training can face consequences, including possible suspension from hearing cases until the requirement is met.
