IX § 2 Oppositions to Applications for Rehearing

When someone asks the Louisiana Supreme Court to reconsider a decision (this is called an application for rehearing), the other side gets a chance to respond. They can file a written statement, called an opposition memorandum, explaining why the court should turn down the request for rehearing.

This response can't be longer than 25 pages. If a party needs more space, they have to ask the court for permission first. That request must be filed at the same time as the original writ application, not separately or later.

Keep in mind that asking for extra pages isn't free. These requests come with filing fees, just like other filings under the court's Rule II.
